ACS - Referencing Guide

Social Media

Information

ACS does not recommend citing social media due to the unstable and inconsistent nature of the content.

For most social media platforms, other than X and YouTube, there is no standard citation format. Judgement needs to be applied based on the citation elements present. The standard format provided for X can be used as a guideline for citing other social media platforms if you do choose to cite them.

Always include a URL and access date.

Do not alter the social media post's spelling, punctuation or grammar in any way. It should be included in-full as the original author posted it.
