ACS - Referencing Guide

Images & Figures

Information

Every image or figure used must be referenced in your reference list. Some may require permission from the author for re-use in your work. Others may be available under a Creative Commons license. For these, you need to confirm that the license permissions allow re-use. Refer here Choosing a licence - CC Australia (creativecommons.net).

Each image or figure requires a caption referencing the full citation of the source where it was acquired, and a number linking it to your reference list entry for the item.

Captions can use sentence case; only the first word and proper nouns must be capitalised. The term "Adapted" should be used in place of "Reprinted" in the caption if the image has been altered.
