How to use the EndNote reference management software

Sharing & collaborating

EndNote can be a great tool for sharing references with colleagues, research groups and for national and international collaboration.

  • Sharing is allowing others to access and copy your references, but not to edit them.
  • Collaborating is allowing others to access, use, edit and remove references.

EndNote libraries, select references or groups can be shared using the following methods:

  • Using EndNote Online. This is the preferred method, as it is the simplest option and allows updates to references to sync between different users or computers.
  • Using USB or email. This method can be used if you can't use EndNote Online, or if you need to send some references to another person or computer as a once-off. Any changes you make to your references won't be synced to the other computer.
