Modern Language Association (MLA)

Founded in 1883, the Modern Language Association of America (MLA) promotes the study and teaching of language and literature.

MLA style is widely used in the humanities, especially in writing on language and literature.

The MLA Handbook is the Association's guide for high school and undergraduate students on the preparation of research papers.

The MLA Style Manual and Guide to Scholarly Publishing is the Association's guide for postgraduate students, scholars, and professional writers.
