Writing a Thesis

Referencing

Our Referencing guides include details for all of the referencing styles supported at Murdoch University and examples of how to cite a range of materials, including theses.

These guides also provide links to the relevant style manuals, which you can refer to while writing your thesis:

You can also check your thesis through Ouriginal (previously known as Urkund). As Ouriginal does not handle large documents well, it's best to check only a chapter, or a limited number of pages at a time. You can find information on how to interpret your Ouriginal report here.

Managing Your Information

EndNote is bibliographic management software that;

  • stores citations data
  • allows you to insert citations into documents and automatically create reference lists
  • can download citation details from a range of databases and output references in a wide range of referencing styles
  • is available free to Murdoch staff and students
