Murdoch Theses

Find a Thesis on a Topic

To search for theses on a topic in the Research Portal:

  • Navigate to Murdoch theses 
  • Enter the topic keyword into the search box, for example sustainability
  • Results can be refined further, such as by date or School.

Use Library Search to search for theses on a topic.

Enter Murdoch University theses in one line and a topic keyword in the next line.

For example: If you search for Murdoch University theses AND sustainability, you will find a range of theses on this topic.

You may need to refine your results by selecting Content Type: Dissertations and Theses.

Finding PhD, MPhil and Professional Doctorate Theses

To find PhD, MPhil and Professional doctorate theses:

  • In the Research Portal, navigate to Murdoch theses
  • Scroll down the page to find Degree Name in the Refine the results options
  • Select the relevant Degree Name and select 'Apply'

To find PhD, MPhil and Professional doctorate theses:

  • In Library Search, adjust search filters to: Title, is (exact)
  • Enter Murdoch University theses. [Name of award] For example: Murdoch University theses. PhD

Finding Honours Theses

To find a list of all Honours theses:

  • In Library Search, adjust search filters to: Title is (exact)
  • Enter Murdoch University theses. [Program of Study] For example: Murdoch University theses. Biological Sciences honours 

 

Alternatively, in the Research Portal:

  • Navigate to Murdoch Theses
  • Select Honours under Degree Name, then click 'Apply' to show Honours theses

 

Accessing a Thesis

Most theses can be accessed online through the Murdoch University Research Portal

Thesis records in Library Search will indicate if full text is available, simply click on View full text to access:

 

Some theses have a print version held in Special Collections and a digital version held in the Research Repository; scroll down the thesis record page in Library search to access the link to the Repository:

 

If there is only one print version of a thesis, please request a thesis from Special Collections by clicking on the In Store Request link in the Catalogue record or by submitting an In Store - Special Collection Item Request form.

Please note: print theses from the Special Collections can only be used in the Library.
