My Unit Readings: Guide for Teaching Staff

About My Unit Readings

My Unit Readings provides easy access to essential and recommended readings for your students. You can create, edit and manage your own reading list or the Library can do this for you.

Whilst some material can be delivered to students via the LMS, copyright protected content (including book chapters or print journal articles) must be delivered using My Unit Readings. Unit readings are made available to students under a range of licences and contracts, including the Copyright Act’s Statutory Licence.

Your list can include:

  • ebooks, ejournals and scanned (digitised) content
  • websites and online video, and
  • print items held by the Library.

You can organise your list by week, topic or importance. In built analytics allow you to track student use and engagement.

How students access your reading list

Once you have created a unit reading list, a link to the list will be made available to students via myMurdoch. Additionally, you can embed part or all of your list in the LMS.

Alternatively, unit reading lists can be accessed via My Unit Readings. Students can search for their lists by unit code, unit title or course coordinators name.

Once they have access to a list, students can create their own profile, mark their reading intentions and add personal notes.

A student guide to reading lists is available:

Ask the Library to create a list for you

If you do not want to create your own list, the Library can help. For details on how to request creation of a list, visit:
