UPDATE: The Springer Nature quota was reached on November 8th 2022. Should you want to publish without paying the article processing charge or without a non-OA licence, it is recommended you submit your articles from January 1, 2023 when the quota is renewed.
Under the Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL) Read & Publish agreements, Murdoch researchers can publish a limited number of Open Access (OA) articles in specific journals each year, without additional costs. Due to the popularity of these agreements, this year's quota for Springer Nature will be reached in November.
When the quota is reached, Murdoch University OA articles in Springer Nature journals may be charged Article Processing Charges (APCs). You may receive email notification from the publisher stating that the quota has been reached, at which point a few options are available to you:
As a reminder, CAUL has Read & Publish agreements with a number of publishers including Wiley, Oxford University Press, CSIRO Publishing and more. In 2023, these agreements will be extended to include Cambridge University Press and other publishers, to be confirmed in the new year – we will keep you updated on developments.
For more advice on Read & Publish agreements, see CAUL’s key information for researchers, view our Publishing Research Guide, or Ask our Librarians.
