How to find secondary and tertiary legal materials at Murdoch University Library

Finding secondary & tertiary materials

Finding electronic secondary & tertiary materials

You may need to search in multiple locations when sourcing secondary and tertiary materials. You can try using the Library's Library Search function in the first instance, but note that articles from Lexis+ are not included in Library Search results. Therefore, you will also need to search directly in the Lexis+ database. Additionally, while AustLII and Westlaw results will appear, the system cannot link directly to these articles and will still require searching the article title directly in the database.

Articles from Gale, HeinOnline, Kluwer, Oxford and ProQuest can be accessed directly through Library Search. However, you may still need to search within the databases themselves if you have a complex or sophisticated search string.

Finding print secondary & tertiary materials

Use Library Search to find the location of print materials, or browse the collection in the Law Library.

The print materials on the shelf are organised using call numbers, where each number relates to a certain subject area. Law materials have call numbers in the 340s, and criminology materials can be found between 362-365. Law materials are broken down into more specific subjects, as you can see from the table below.
