Clothing Swap - Call for donations

by Georgia Almond on 2022-08-15T12:26:11+08:00 | 0 Comments

Do your part in reducing fashion waste by donating your unneeded clothing!

We are teaming up with Murdoch Guild and Access Wellbeing and Equity (AWE) to bring you a Clothing Swap this Sustainable Spring.

Did you know that less than 15% of clothes are recycled or reused? Globally, the fast fashion industry creates 92 million tonnes of waste per year and uses 79 trillion litres of water. You can help meet Goal 12 of the United Nation's Agenda for Sustainable Development, which aims to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.

All types of clothing is needed – for  all types of people – women’s, men’s, gender neutral, and including (but not limited to) formal wear and work wear. Donations can be more than just clothing! We will also accept shoes/boots, handbags, jewellery, scarves, and hats. Please note that we are unable to accept underwear, socks or swimwear. Ensure donations are clean and in good condition – a good rule is to ask yourself if you would give it to a friend.

Donations can be dropped off at the Information Desk in the Geoffrey Bolton Library (pictured) or Building 390 lobby west (location) before 5pm Friday, 9 September.

The Clothing Swap is event will take place in The Den (location) on Thursday 15 September, 10am – 2pm – add it to your calendar now https://announcements.murdoch.edu.au/australia/id/10340.

If you have questions or would like to volunteer to help at the event, please email Tamara Capper.
