Updated 31st March 2020

The Library is working with the University to ensure the health and wellbeing of students, staff and visitors to the Library.

Are the Murdoch University libraries open?

Murdoch University Libraries are currently open; check our website for opening hours.

As of Monday 30th March, access to the Library is only available to current Murdoch University students and staff - use your Murdoch ID card to swipe in at the entrance.

Is it safe to visit the Murdoch University libraries?

The health and wellbeing of students and staff is our highest priority. Measures being taken in the Library include:

  • Seating arrangements have been adjusted to create a 1.5 metre separation where possible, please do not move the chairs.
  • Regular cleaning is being undertaken throughout the day including disinfecting of surfaces, floors, and equipment such as computer keyboards.
  • Hand sanitiser is being provided for library users.
  • Disposable gloves are available at the front of the Geoffrey Bolton Library from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Security staff will issue gloves upon request outside of these times.
  • Group study rooms are closed
  • Events in the Launchpad and Library have been cancelled.
  • Reduced capacity in the Equity Room at the Geoffrey Bolton Library.

When you are in the Library please ensure you abide by physical distancing rules, keeping at least 1.5 metres between you and others.

Studying from home? The Library can help.

We'd expect many students will be studying from home, see how we can make your study more efficient and effective:

Visit our website for other support services that may be available to you: Help and Support

Can I still borrow books and items from the Library?

You can still borrow items from our collections. We recommend using our self-check machines to borrow and return items. You can also return items using the chute near the Bush Court entrance of the Geoffrey Bolton Library.

If you live closer to Mandurah than Perth, you can request items from the Geoffrey Bolton Library, or Vet Library, to be sent to the Mandurah Campus Library for pick up (8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday).

Unfortunately, our BONUS+ service has been suspended until June 30th 2020. Read more on the BONUS+ service suspension.

Can I get books posted to me?

We can post items from our print collection to you if you are an:

  • external Honours, Masters or Doctoral student living outside the metropolitan Perth area,
  • OUA postgraduate student living outside the metropolitan Perth area.

Unfortunately, we cannot post items to you if you are:

  • an undergraduate student,
  • a Honours, Masters or Doctoral student living within metropolitan WA (determined by post codes between 6000-6214),
  • studying from overseas.
