COVID-19: Library Response

We are glad to announce that the Library will reopen all our branches on Monday 18th May.  

Access to the Library will only be available to Murdoch University students and staff – your Murdoch ID card is required to swipe in at the entrance.


Opening Hours

New opening hours are as follows:

  •     Geoffrey Bolton Library: 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday
    • 24/7 Learning Common at the Geoffrey Bolton Library is open as usual (swipe access required at all times)
  •     Veterinary Library: 7:00 am - 6:00 pm weekdays
    • 24 hour swipe access is limited to current Veterinary Science students and staff outside normal building opening hours.
  •     Mandurah Campus Library: 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
    • Computer lab at the Mandurah Campus remains open (Monday to Friday from 7am-10pm – swipe access only).


Keeping you safe

You will notice that we’ve made some changes in the Library to ensure the safety of you and others:

  • The Help Desk will remain closed, but you can contact us by phone or via our website.
  • Group Study rooms remain closed.
  • Postgraduate Research Study rooms are available for individual study only
  • Reduced seating in computer labs, learning common areas and study zones to ensure social distancing
  • Study spaces have been re-zoned for individual quiet study
  • Hand sanitising stations located at key points in the Library
  • Social distancing signage in learning common areas
  • Increased cleaning of common areas and bathrooms
  • Equity Resource Room at the Geoffrey Bolton Library: A temporary Equity Resource Room has been created in the Geoffrey Bolton Library 24/7 Learning Common. There are 4 PC workstations with sit/stand desks (restricted access to those who have access to the existing Equity Resource room).

Please remember to practice social distancing and good personal hygiene when you are on campus and in the Library.


Access to Print Collections

Our print collections, including the High Demand Collection, are available for loan. Please use the self-check machines to borrow or return your items.

If you choose not to visit the Library, we may be able to digitise journal articles and portions of books from our print collection on request: Submit a digisation request

If you have items currently on loan, we have automatically extended the due date until the end of semester. Check My Library to see when your items are due. If you think you have loans which have not been renewed automatically, please contact the Library.

Additionally, access to some Library online resources has been extended to our users.

No items from the Special Collections will be available from the 26th of March 2020 until further notice. All researcher visits to the Special Collections will cease on the 24th of March 2020 until further notice.
