EndNote: EndNote & Word

Guide to using EndNote at Murdoch University

EndNote and Microsoft Word

The integration of EndNote and Word makes adding in-text citations & creating bibliographies simple - as long as you follow a few important rules. See how easy it is from the following pages:

1. Cite While You Write (CWYW) - inserting citations. CWYW is the function that allows you to simultaneously insert in-text citations and create a bibliography at the end of the document. This page also includes instruction on how to delete a reference from Word.

2. Cite While You Write (CWYW) - editing citations - will show you how to edit citations in Word

3. Formatted bibliography - will show you how to export a number of references from EndNote to Word without using the CWYW functionality

Other software

If you use alternative software to Microsoft Word (e.g. OpenOffice or Pages) EndNote will still work! The icons and procedures will be similar. Download the Plug-in for Pages for Mac here.
